Before starting Spray Foam Solutions, Fani took the Small Biz entrepreneurship course through UW-Parkside Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a partner in the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network. During the course, Fani wrote a business plan, researched his business idea and explored possible financing options with SBDC director, Matt Wagner. “I had a lot of questions,” says Fani. “Matt helped me with financing, getting a presentation together, deciding how to advertise or whether to have a Web site.” With a well-thought-out business plan in hand, Fani secured a loan through the Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corp., another WEN partner, and was able to launch his business in August 2009 . Wagner even helped Fani land his first large contract to provide weatherization services to low-income households for the Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency using federal stimulus dollars. And Fani continues to pick up additional business. “I like the way this is panning out. There’s- a lot of interest in us right now,” notes Fani, who also feels good about the value he is provides home and business owners, who see a significant reduction in heating costs. “Doing new construction, you really don’t see the effect you have on the home, but when you go into existing homes and you talk to owners and they tell you ‘the heater only ran three times last night’ or ‘wow, it’s more comfortable in here already,’ that is a big satisfaction for us.” For more information on Spray Foam Solutions, contact Steven Fani at (262) 515-5722 or steven.fani@yahoo.com
