The power of a business plan

If a new business owner is going to stick his or her plan on a shelf to collect dust, then I would argue that writing the plan is hardly worth the effort. While the process is worthwhile, the true magic happens as owners use the plan to adjust their strategies to achieve concrete and measurable goals.

 

Holmen woman's invention hits heights of fashion

The hot women's fashion for fall and winter shown in Paris this month included all the hot designers. Names like Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta. Bill Blass, Céline and Betty Ottesen. That's the Betty Ottesen of Betty Ottesen Sewing in Holmen.

SBIR Conference

The 2011 National Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Conference brought 630 entrepreneurs, innovators, researchers and technical support professionals to Madison, Wisconsin, between April 10 and 13. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker emphasized the job creation potential of small businesses in his welcome remarks at the conference, which was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
